Dion Reiner-Guzman, better known as Dion Decibels, is a San Francisco native who was born into music. With his father, a professional drummer, and his mother, a dance instructor, Dion was steeped in sounds from his earliest days. He discovered turntables in 2001 and fell in love with the ability they gave him to shape, transform, and extend his favorite songs. He has since become a major force in the Bay area music scene as a DJ, sound engineer, and producer.

From parties to concerts to award-winning theater performances across the country, there is no environment Dion hasn’t touched. He has provided sounds at the San Francisco Symphony, Nokia Theater, Kennedy Center, Lincoln Center, plus many more; DJ’d alongside Daveed Diggs, Digable Planets, Les Nubians, Saul Williams, Van Jones, Yuna, and Watsky, to name a few. In the theater world, he is best known for his work as musical director and DJ in celebrated playwright Marc Bamuthi Joseph’s masterwork “Word Becomes Flesh.”

In 2004 Dion joined Wonway at KPFA radio in Berkeley, creating Thinkbeat Radio, a monthly show showcasing new underground hip hop, soul, & electronic music. It has featured many artists over the years, including: Bilal, Hiatus Kaiyote, Little Dragon, and Oddisee.

In 2006 he graduated from recording engineer school; E'xpression College with a BAS in sound arts. Later on recording and mixing Daveed Diggs’ debut album “Small Thing’s To A Giant”, also recording some of Phife Dawg’s (A Tribe Called Quest) last songs, including “Dear Dilla.” And in 2017, Dion became the Music Supervisor for the new Oakland-based web series “The North Pole Show.”
