Restorative Practices in the Prison System, A Virtual Reality Experience

How can the emerging technology of virtual reality create bridges, expand empathy, and advance justice? How can a strategic use of VR enhance deep experiences that center the voices and narratives of people of color? In this interactive session, participants will experience an excerpt of the film Healing Justice, which explores the connections among trauma, the justice system and a need for restorative practices. After viewing, participants will  engage with the film through a VR experience. The session will close with larger discussion.

This session will be facilitated by Dr. Shakti Butler, President and Founder of World Trust Educational Services, Inc., a non-profit transformative educational organization. Rooted in love and justice, World Trust produces films, curricula, workshops and programs that are catalysts for institutional, structural and cultural change.

Please note that this session will be happening four times: Twice at lunch on Tuesday and twice during the Breakout Sessions on Wednesday. As there is limited seating, please sign-up at the registration table to ensure a seat.
